Description

The Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSCEP) is seeking an associate trauma medical director to enhance our established acute care surgery program encompassing trauma, surgical critical care, emergency general surgery and burns. Responsibilities include guiding the trauma program’s quality initiatives as the TQIP champion. The candidate should enjoy teaching surgical critical care fellows, residents and medical students as well as pursuing research and other scholarly activities within the Surgery Department.  This is an excellent opportunity for a leadership role as the Surgery Department grows clinically and academically as a regional referral center.

UMC-EP is the only ACS-verified Level 1 trauma center for a 270-mile radius. The trauma center admitted 3,934 injured patients in 2021 from a catchment area of 1.3M individuals in far west Texas and southern New Mexico. TTUHSCEP is one of five independent universities in the Texas Tech University System.  The Health Sciences Center consists of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine, the Gayle Greve Hunt School of Nursing, the L. Frederick Francis Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine.

El Paso is the 6th most populous city in Texas and the 22nd in the United States. The city has minor league baseball and soccer, symphony, museums, excellent dining options and shopping. The El Paso International Airport is easy to access, making travel simple and efficient. One can enjoy living in the mountains and skiing is just two hours away.
